June 2017 / Floating park made from waste

A floating park made from waste is being constructed in the Nieuwe Maas river. Extraction platforms were used to collect all the plastic waste from the river. This waste was then recycled to create floating building blocks, on which a park will be constructed. From small plants to trees towering many metres above your head, the sky is the limit! Algae and various aquatic plants will also become attached to the undersides of the building blocks. In this way, these floating waste parks can help to improve the entire ecosystem in and around the river.
